Happy Monday!
It's time to drop a new season with new intentions. Get ready as the Saludable Latina Women's Health and Wellness Podcast is ready to bring more health topic conversations with real women and health and wellness experts. To get things started right, Lilia is opening up about her own personal story with an episode about Fertility Talk.
Fertility...Hmmm What does it mean? Well, many things really, but for today's podcast conversation it will be focused on trying to conceive. In this Episode, I talk about my personal experience as I got ready to see a fertility specialist, what labs where recommended, intimate screening questions the provider asked, sex life, and deciding to go on hormone therapy.
Although I don't give you all the details in this episode, I will be breaking up the topics into different podcast segments throughout the new season in hopes to create the dialogue, awareness and education.

(*Importante: As always all podcast episodes are for educational purpose only, it is not a substitution for medical advice or treatment. Please always consult with your medical provider in regards to a particular diagnoses or health treatment.)
Labs recommended by my medical provider for my fertility assessment were the following:
Chemistry Panel
Lipid Profile Hematology
Thyroid Endocrine
HcG Quant
You also have to excuse me as I mention an insulin panel which I might of mistaken with the Lipid panel.
Below are a couple of resources and even though I didn't recommend a book during the recording, the one below is a good read on how to have good prenatal nutrition.

ROAR ORGANIC

Getting back into fitness is a journey as well as finding the right products that can help you maintain your fitness goals. Between family commitments, work obligations and social events it may seem down right impossible to get back into fitness. And as result most people tend to buy whichever electrolyte drink seems good to the eye without realizing the amount of calories and sugar they might be consuming. Whatever the choice was then, I am here to encourage to think about your beverage choice.

As a wellness expert, educator and advocate, I will be sharing why ROAR ORGANICis a good beverage choice for individuals who are athletes, fitness gym gurus and just a regular person with fitness goals. The thing about beverages is that you have to want it for yourself and not just simply because you think it's cool. I guarantee you that most people who choose a drink of their preference is because they like taste and look, but are unaware of the calories, sugar and ingredients they are consuming. A beverage is not just a beverage, it's about finding the ideal beverage that contributes to your fitness goals. Forget the external motivator about the beverage looking fancy, let's dig a little deeper to read the labels on beverages.

WORDAFUL San Diego

What an experience to have captured moments for a dynamic collaboration between Liz Hernandez WORDAFULand Jessie Medina FEMXQUARTERS. Women came together to stand in grattitude and cohesively learn to shape thoughs and feeling into positive affirmations. The experience definitely created a  fluid space of good energy to flow among the ladies.

According to Steve Rick, "Words are important. Words are one of the essential tools individuals use to communicated. As people involved in the field of communication science and disorders, we all know how important words can be to an individual." This is very true! The way we speak to ourselves and others can heal or harm our bodies and minds.

This is why it's important to change our perception and dialogue with positive words versus negative ones. According to Liz, " We can create new realities for ourselves by changing our internal and external dialogue, ones that support more meaningful relationships and lives."

During the event, I was mindful to stay present because I really enjoyed seeing the engagement between Liz and the group of women. Many of them expressing their true feelings about how they view themselves and what they felt. Liz gracefully listened as she helped guide women into changing their negative thoughts into positive affirmations.

If you didn't get a chance to attend the event, don't stress. I want you to take this opportunity to answer and reflect on the following questions that Steve Rich shared on Associate Insights:

What do your words say about you? How do your words promote health and wholeness? How do your words encourage and give positive reinforcement to others? Do you say kind things? What affirmative thoughts do you say to yourself?

I also want you to google Liz's videos on you tube and select one video to listen to and journal a response. I chose the video acceptance.

GSK hosts a “Night of Beauty” at LA Sephora to educate and empower women of color living with lupus

According to Lupus LA  in Los Angeles County alone, there are over 60,000 people living with lupus. The CDC   has found that women ages 15 to 44 are the greatest risk of developing lupus- women of color being much more likely than Caucasian women to develop the disease. Additionally, the CDC reported that Hispanic women with lupus have more heart related issues that women of any other group.

To educate and empower women of color living with lupus, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is hosting a Night of Beauty event at Sephora on January 30th, following several other events throughout the country.

Night of Beauty will provide Lupus Warriors and their caregivers with the opportunity to engage in educational conversation about lupus with health experts and receive skincare and makeup tips from Sephora Collection's Artists & Beauty Ambassadors. The Los Angeles event will feature a panel of Lupus Warriors and other health experts moderated by lupus advocate and Emmy-nominated actress, Tichina Arnol. For years, Tichina has advocated for women with lupus and has witnessed its complication firsthand because of it's impact on her sister- and in her life as her caretaker.

I am excited to join a Night of Beauty to support lupus LA in creating awareness around a  much needed topic, since more and more women are being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease disorder. To get your FREE Lupus Symptoms Reference Kit click the following link:  Free Symptom Kit and to learn more about lupus visit the following website: US in lupus.

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram: @ saludable_latina to catch the event as I will have an opportunity to give you a glimpse of the panel discussion and insight for skin care and makeup tips.

A Reflection of the Women's Wellness Circle

Last Year, I had a divine opportunity to create a wellness space in Barrio Logan and it felt amazing to start a project from the ground up. However, towards the end of the year in 2019, I had to make a decision to let go of the space due to life circumstances. Some of you may think, Wow.... that sucks for her !! But to be honest, I was okay with letting go of the space because a transition needed to take place.

I was able to let go and make room for the UNKNOWN opportunities. I am trusting the Universe and God to provide a path that feels intuitively right as I keep learning and growing. And although I turned in the keys to the wellness space, I've had tremendous support it the most unthinkable way.

To be honest I wasn't sure what 2020 was going to look like for me, but after saying "Yes" to an unexpected opportunity at the Femxsummitit then led me to create the first Women's Wellness Circle.

Women's Wellness Circle

Happy New Year! I know you've noticed that I have been away from the blog, podcast and creating workshops. That's because I had to take a break for a couple reasons. First, I had to place my health as a priority to take care of some important health appointments and Second, I needed writers inspiration to continue to work on my first mini 5 page or so guide. I know it's not like a 20 pages, but I seriously I had t think.. write...work....think....exercise.....read...write...do laundry.. eat.. sleep.. write.. so five pages was like eternity, I seriously don't know how writers do it, but I am staying positive that I can share hopefully by this weekend! Fingers Crossed!

Next, I want to announce, I've decided to host my first workshop of the year Friday, January 17th, 2020 will be the first Women's Wellness Circle at FEMX Quarters. I am being mindful to create from a place of harmony and not exhaustion, so I will be very selective with the dates, so I can create unique and beautiful experiences. So, with that said, if you like to attend the first workshop, click the link below for details.
