GSK hosts a “Night of Beauty” at LA Sephora to educate and empower women of color living with lupus

According to Lupus LA  in Los Angeles County alone, there are over 60,000 people living with lupus. The CDC   has found that women ages 15 to 44 are the greatest risk of developing lupus- women of color being much more likely than Caucasian women to develop the disease. Additionally, the CDC reported that Hispanic women with lupus have more heart related issues that women of any other group.

To educate and empower women of color living with lupus, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is hosting a Night of Beauty event at Sephora on January 30th, following several other events throughout the country.

Night of Beauty will provide Lupus Warriors and their caregivers with the opportunity to engage in educational conversation about lupus with health experts and receive skincare and makeup tips from Sephora Collection's Artists & Beauty Ambassadors. The Los Angeles event will feature a panel of Lupus Warriors and other health experts moderated by lupus advocate and Emmy-nominated actress, Tichina Arnol. For years, Tichina has advocated for women with lupus and has witnessed its complication firsthand because of it's impact on her sister- and in her life as her caretaker.

I am excited to join a Night of Beauty to support lupus LA in creating awareness around a  much needed topic, since more and more women are being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease disorder.
