San Deigo, Ca-March 15-25, 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of Media Arts Center San Diego's Latino Film Festival. The festival will take place once again at the AMC 18 Fashion Valley theaters and Digital Gym Cinema in North Park. The festival has grown from a student film festival (Cine Estudantil) focusing on works by Latinos and/or about the Latino Experience into one of the larger and well-respected Latino film festivals in the world.
This year's celebrations will include tributes to filmmakers and actors, a Virtual Reality Lounge and the 25th Anniversary Awards Ceremony Gala in addition to over 160 films from Latin America, the United States, and Spain, Film Talks, celebrity appearances, live concerts and performances at the Sonido Latino stage, Sabor Latino-Food, Beer & Wine Fest, art exhibits, and parties.
Some of my favorite highlight movies to watch are the UNA MUJER SIN FILTRO (Mexico) starring Fernanda Castillo and Sofia Nino de Rivera; BAJO LA MISMA LUNA (Mexico/USA), starring Kate del Castillo, Eugenio Derbez, and America Ferrera, among many more.
